Lenzie kicked of their competitive season with a Shield game against Glasgow Accies at New Anniesland with perfect weather and ground conditions however Accies were keen to spoil Lenzie's day with 2 well taken converted tries in the opening 5 minutes to take the lead 14 - 0. Lenzie worked their way into the game and threatened through the centres Condie and Marshall before scoring the best try of the day by the supposing scrum half Patterson. The try was converted by McKinlay and Lenzie gained in confidence as the game progressed.
Accies moved the ball well when given space and they crossed the whitewash to score a converted try followed by a penalty before Lenzie scored a well worked forward's try through Letford who supported an excellent Scouller break to bring the score to 24 - 14 to Glasgow Accies at Half time.
Lenzie started the second half by taking the game to Accies with Williams, Brett and Telfer showing up well however key decisions were going against them and Accies extended their lead through their consistent kicker Rhodes.
Lenzie scored mid way through the second hald with a move straight from the training ground when Condie kicked ahead for Marshall to gather and score in the corner much to the satisfaction of Coaches Breckinridge and Boyd.
Accies extended their lead through further penalties and Lenzie had the last say in the game when they scored through Brown after some intensive pressure on the Accies line.
Accies deserved their win however credit to Lenzie for some excellent team work and defence.
Man of the match was captain Scouller.
Next game is at Viewfield on Saturday against Carrick with a 3 pm ko - all welcome.
