Glenzie vs Cartha

Game of 2 Halves

Glenzie flew out of the blocks and scored within a minute with Muir dotting down from a maul out wide. The game then settled down with each side testing the other for weaknesses and the home side were first to crack when Cumnock ran in a try from the 22m, shrugging off a number of tackles on the way. Glenzie then found another gear with Huddy and Paul adding to the scoreline. Cumnock should have added another but unfortunately, despite being clean through, their inexperienced centre spilled the ball on the try line letting the home side off the hook. Don then added another, thanks to strong support play and rucking from the forwards, and Paul got his brace, combining with Haddock to power through the Cumnock defence. Shanahan scored the last try of the first half, stealing the ball at the front of a lineout on the visitors 5m line. Half time score 34-5.
After the break Paul completed his hat-trick before Cumnock started to assert themselves on the game, scoring a further three tries before the final whistle. Final score 39-24.
Definitely a game of two halves and Glenzie need to address their concentration lapses if they are to continue competing at the top of the table.
Next game is away to Glasgow Hawks on Sunday 19th Oct.
