Glenzie vs Dalziel
Good win over Dalziel
A good team performance from Glenzie secured an emphatic home win over a capable Dalziel opposition who were seeking to overturn the heavy defeat Glenzie inflicted on them at home earlier in the season. It was a tough encounter with both sides maintaining a physical performance throughout. After a frantic first few minutes Cruickshanks opened the score, driving through the Dalziel defence and grounding under the posts. Dalziel pressure from the restart eventually won them a scrum deep in the Glenzie half and they moved the ball swiftly to score and level. Glenzie replied immediately from their own scrum, with quick hands delivering the ball to Gauhl to finish off the move. The game then settled into long periods of pressure on the Glenzie defence, as they continually gave away possession through knock ons and penalties and were fortunate to go into half time at 14-7. Glenzie started the second half with new resolve and within 3 minutes a blistering run and great off load by Muir had Cruickshanks in for his second. Dalziel undaunted continued to pressure the Glenzie defence which held firm and they in return took every opportunity to run the ball through the hands, with Gauhl eventually breaking through for his second. The final try was another team effort with Shanahan brushing off the tiring Dalziel defence as he drove powerfully to the line.
A gutsy performance which Glenzie will need to repeat next week when they travel to play Argyll on Sun 23rd Nov.
